Hana Fahy - photographed by Callander Girl Photography
As it is so closely related to time lapse, stop motion has always been a hobby and slowly this idea for Hana evolved. After some funding rejection from NZ on air, Hana and I decided just to make it anyway and so began four months of part time evening drawing and some serious OOS or RSI or whatever it's acronym'd these days.
Some of my 'picture film rolls' consisting of hundreds of frame-by-frame drawings.
And so this 3-minute video consists of around 800 small paintings, each painfully photographed with a still camera and arranged at six-frames-per-second in order to simulate film. Luckily I had some help, and gifted fine arts photographer Aliscia Young lended her painting skills on several occasions.
Hana Fahy is based in Dunedin, New Zealand and puts out some superb work and live performances. Be sure to visit her myspace page and if you like her artistry you can buy it online here.
And so I present my first animated music video: Hana Fahy - Slide
